Media Studies

AA MEDIA is an experimental testing ground for exploring and interrogating the tools of the discipline – tools with which we speculate, manipulate and play; compute, control and test; communicate, seduce, and provoke.

Acting as both training camp and laboratory, it is a diverse, multidisciplinary program where unexpected collisions and obsessive attention to detail expose a rich seam of creative potential. Media Studies presents an opportunity to develop individual practice, where students hone their dexterity with established and progressive media, actively testing modes of production through focused acts of doing and making.

DA-DA-DIGITAL III

Kasper Ax/ Davide Ole Wolthers
Weds, 10-1pm, North Jury Room

Forget about boring architectural constraints such as scale, function and structure. The Dada
Digital course is all about having fun with digital tools. Inspired by the Dadaist movement, where
3D objects were reinterpreted as purely expressive spatial artefacts, this course opens up a new world of creativity through the use of computational means. We will focus on everyday objects by reinventing them as architectural components; by reinterpreting our own personal inspirations into 3D models in rhino transforming them into spatially complex constellations through the use of plug-ins and visualisation techniques. Ultimately the course provides a digital toolbox where the aim is to output digitally fabricated physical models using CNC, 3D printing and laser cutting.
